A Brief Introduction to the family tree project

Welcome.

Please read the instructions below and then return to the “family tree project” by clicking the link below.

This is a family project for those of us who have caught the genealogy bug and who enjoy researching and recording our family history. The tree will grow and become more accurate with your help.

Currently there are  5,786 names (as at 10 June 2011) which arise from my grandchildren and their ancestors, along with other linkages or lines from their ancestors.

By rights, on entering the project you will only be able to see all the details of those who have died. The word “Living” is used to replace the names for those of us who are still living - this is subject to having their death date available, otherwise the default is set for those over 105 years.

If you see living people in the tree who should not be showing publicly, please let me know.

You can, on application, get to see all names and details of your branch of the family tree - it may be possible for you have edit rights.

Just apply by clicking the link “Register for a User Account” on the Project Home Page. Introduce yourself, identify your direction of interest i.e. which branch of the family tree you are working on, or areas where you are able to help me. Supply your contact details (Your e-mail address is essential). Please also confirm your relationship to the family tree by supplying data which confirms your closeness to the family ie Birth, Death or Marriage dates etc. Choose your “user name” and “password” then submit and you should receive a confirmation by e-mail validating your increased access to family tree site. Approval time may vary depending on my availability and or access to the internet.

Disclaimers:

Some information loaded, particularly the notes section has become a bit confused with the merge of data from another file.

A reminder: If you see living people in the tree who should not be showing publicly, please let me know.

Have fun!

John

P.S. I receive many emails at times requesting information or providing updates and do at times get behind. Your emails or letters are kept and I do catchups when I get a chance - I am looking forward to retirement to enable me to spend more time on the project.
